Karuizawa 3 - Ski resort dog run

Karuizawa 3 - Ski resort dog run_a0036243_225329.jpgThe ski resort dog run was lovely! Too bad it was quite hot... but if it wasn't so, you might mistaken it as a mini-Switzerland? Islay sure enjoyed the long walk, all the way to the foot of the mountain.

Karuizawa 2 - ski lift

Karuizawa 2 - ski lift_a0036243_224932.jpgThere is an interesting dog-run in Karuizawa. Actually, it's a ski resort, but in summer it is partially turned into a dog-run! So Islay got to ride the ski lift for the first time! She seemed a little bewildered... but quite an experience! I loved the view from the top!

Karuizawa 1 - Mona Lisa

Karuizawa 1 - Mona Lisa_a0036243_224040.jpgEarly this month, we went to Karuizawa. This was my 3rd visit, and the 2nd visit with Islay. What's interesting about this place is, there's lots of shops to see, of which many you can go in with your dog! So it's quite a favourite spot for dog owners.

It was a 3days 2nights trip. On the first day, we walked the main shopping area. Bought a few doggy stuffs, and ate some goodies on the way.

Then on the way, we found this place where you can take photo as Mona Lisa! So what do you think of the Islay Mona Lisa? Cute? Note her paw (hand) too, well posed, yeah?

Dog Run Carnival

Dog Run Carnival_a0036243_222826.jpgWe attended a mini carnival at a Dog Run near our house last weekend. An extremely small dog run actually... don't imagine something like the dog run at West Coast (S'pore)... perhaps 1/500 in size? Well, it's the size about 1/5 perhaps of my former house's garden at 44 Ewe Boon Rd. That small... what to do, that's all they can afford in the middle of the residential area in Tokyo.

Well well, still Islay got to enjoy playing with the agility equipments they had there.... They had games too which Islay didn't win anything... and they had this lucky dip with lot of prizes. They kept calling out the names of the winners, but no Islay... waited and waited but no Islay.... so I thought we're not winning anything.

Then it was time to call up the winner of the 2nd grand prize.... a bicycle that costs about S$500, equipped with a basket where you can carry your dog. Well, can't carry a dog of Islay's size, but enough to carry 2 cats, probably... and they called Islay's name! Wow!!! So we won a brand new bicycle! Really very excited. They should be sending it to our place soon, how exciting! Anyway, it is far better than the first prize, which was a vacuum cleaner. I'm not too keen on having one, the less household chores to do, the better, and with a brand new one I'll feel pressurized to clean up the house...

My first pal, Suzie

My first pal, Suzie_a0036243_18195.jpgThis is Suzie, my first dog. Her full name is Angeline Cherry Suzanna, SUZIE. Quite a gorgeous name for just a mongrel, eh?

We adopted her from the SPCA Singapore (was still at Orchard Road then) in 1979. She and her sibling (a brown pup with black muzzle, I remember) were strays, and were picked up by the SPCA as pups. The people at the SPCA named her Angeline, and some of the workers called her Cherry, thus her long name...

She was a very active dog, much more hyper than Islay. Very optimistic, happy and jovial. Quite different from Islay, who is more sensitive, and sulks easily. But neither excels the other. They are both wonderful in their own ways! Anyway, there's no need to compare two indiduals dogs, it's enough loving them as they are, don't you agree?

My childhood memories are full of memories with Suzie. I took it really hard when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge... I couldn't even think of having another dog for years! It took 9 years... but finally I was ready to take in and love another dog, and that's how Islay came into my life.
