Islay enjoyed herself playing in the snow, and I let the cats experience snow too. Even Nana, the 17 year-old Singapore cat! Who would have thought that the tiny cat who lived most of her life in a tropical country, would get to walk on snow! She took it OK, I guess it's nothing compared to all the things she experienced so far... like the airplane, pet-hotel, etc. Towser and Amber seemed to blend in well with the snowy surrounding too, though I guess they would very much prefer curling up in the warm & cozy room!
I attach the photos of the snow, taken today, and a few days ago!
Enjoy!

For Christmas & Boxing Day 2004, we took Islay to Niigata. The main purpose... to let Islay play all she wants in the carpet of snow!!
Christmas day was sunny, but there were still inches of snow in the park. We also visited a ski resort which was still not open for this season, so Islay got to play there too, and they had tons of snow there!
We woke up to see a totally different picture on Boxing day. It was snowing very hard, and everthing was white with snow! Islay really enjoyed herself! She'll run, skip, try to catch snow in her mouth, dig, etc etc etc... it was fun just watching her enjoying herself so much!
I'll attach some photos here - should explain themselves better than words... the photos of Islay wearing red/green X'mas T shirt were taken on X'mas day, and photos of Islay wearing pink were taken on Boxing day.
Enjoy!

Islay apparntly has a lot of hunting instinct and she goes crazy! Her time was 5.03 seconds for 50 metres, and a little over 9 seconds for 100 metres. Not bad actually, for a non-sighthound. They have time trials once in a while, so hope to enter her in one of these trials some day!]]>Karuizawa 3 - Ski resort dog runhttp://islay2.exblog.jp/668116/2004-07-15T22:54:51+09:002004-07-20T03:49:14+09:002004-07-15T22:54:51+09:00islaytowseramber未分類Karuizawa 2 - ski lifthttp://islay2.exblog.jp/668081/2004-07-15T22:50:55+09:002004-07-20T03:49:14+09:002004-07-15T22:50:55+09:00islaytowseramber未分類Karuizawa 1 - Mona Lisahttp://islay2.exblog.jp/667993/2004-07-15T22:42:02+09:002004-07-20T03:49:14+09:002004-07-15T22:42:02+09:00islaytowseramber未分類
It was a 3days 2nights trip. On the first day, we walked the main shopping area. Bought a few doggy stuffs, and ate some goodies on the way.
Then on the way, we found this place where you can take photo as Mona Lisa! So what do you think of the Islay Mona Lisa? Cute? Note her paw (hand) too, well posed, yeah? ]]>Dog Run Carnivalhttp://islay2.exblog.jp/667857/2004-07-15T22:29:48+09:002004-07-20T03:49:14+09:002004-07-15T22:29:48+09:00islaytowseramber未分類
Well well, still Islay got to enjoy playing with the agility equipments they had there.... They had games too which Islay didn't win anything... and they had this lucky dip with lot of prizes. They kept calling out the names of the winners, but no Islay... waited and waited but no Islay.... so I thought we're not winning anything.
Then it was time to call up the winner of the 2nd grand prize.... a bicycle that costs about S$500, equipped with a basket where you can carry your dog. Well, can't carry a dog of Islay's size, but enough to carry 2 cats, probably... and they called Islay's name! Wow!!! So we won a brand new bicycle! Really very excited. They should be sending it to our place soon, how exciting! Anyway, it is far better than the first prize, which was a vacuum cleaner. I'm not too keen on having one, the less household chores to do, the better, and with a brand new one I'll feel pressurized to clean up the house...]]>My first pal, Suziehttp://islay2.exblog.jp/650453/2004-07-13T18:20:26+09:002004-12-27T23:55:49+09:002004-07-13T18:20:26+09:00islaytowseramberIntroductionThis is Suzie, my first dog. Her full name is Angeline Cherry Suzanna, SUZIE. Quite a gorgeous name for just a mongrel, eh?
We adopted her from the SPCA Singapore (was still at Orchard Road then) in 1979. She and her sibling (a brown pup with black muzzle, I remember) were strays, and were picked up by the SPCA as pups. The people at the SPCA named her Angeline, and some of the workers called her Cherry, thus her long name...
She was a very active dog, much more hyper than Islay. Very optimistic, happy and jovial. Quite different from Islay, who is more sensitive, and sulks easily. But neither excels the other. They are both wonderful in their own ways! Anyway, there's no need to compare two indiduals dogs, it's enough loving them as they are, don't you agree?
My childhood memories are full of memories with Suzie. I took it really hard when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge... I couldn't even think of having another dog for years! It took 9 years... but finally I was ready to take in and love another dog, and that's how Islay came into my life.]]>Welcome to Islay & Pals weblog! This is Islay, the world's one and only (?) mongrel, living in the city of Tokyo, Japan!
She's a spayed female, going on 3 years old next month. Her mother was a stray who gave birth to a litter of five. All the pups found foster homes, and the families of the siblings still keep in touch, and meet up at least once a year!
Hope to tell you more about Islay's, and her pals' life in Tokyo. Life in Tokyo isn't as bad as you might imagine. True, not that many places for dogs to run free... but then just a few hours drive away, you find lots of nature where dogs can REALLY enjoy!
